When do you know you’re a good poker player?

I know there will be the regular trolls that come on and bash me, but when do you know?

Im still fairly new and taking it serious, but I beat the 1/3 game on a regular basis. I’m disciplined and play pretty tight unless I have a decent hand pre flop.

my play is getting more loose as I learn to read players patters but other than that, I’m not sure.

I know I’m opening the flood gates to ridicule and judgement. So fire away, and I’ll sift through the garbage.

I can tell you how I recognize a bad poker player, I look in the mirror. A great poker player probably picks up my scent when I walk into the room.

If you are playing against bad players in lower stakes games 1/2, 2/4, 2/5 it does not matter if you are good or not. These players just play and are more than happy to stay in. No matter how good you
are there are usually too many players in a hand to win on a consistent basis. Playing a hand against 4-6 other plays is pretty impossible to beat, no matter what you have and how good you are.

With that amount of players staying in all the time you will never win, just too many variables.
They chase, they do not care about odds, how many outs they have, etc.
They will hit their flush, gut shot, etc and kill whatever you have on the turn or river.

So you play really tight and then when you do play you get no action as they figured you are not playing unless really strong and they all fold.

I think this works in your favor. As long as you have money in with the best hand most the time mathematics always wins long term.

they can only suck out so many times before it’s a payday for the educated.

true but bad runs are hard to calculate . I would rather be loose aggressive then sweat the daily grind in a cash game.

Poker streaks can be horrible. I went on a bad run for most of 2020. Though I've since gained it all back,
and then some. You can't evaluate your poker skills on short term results...
